"Facing the resurgence of tax "watchdog" groups in many areas of the state, New York State United
Teachers and its local unions are gearing up for the statewide school budget voting ..... Local unions
across the state are not leaving anything to chance as the date approaches.   Local unions statewide
are organizing to pass their school budgets through phone banking and building coalitions with other
public education stakeholders.

The statewide union is also doing its part. More than 25 locals have participated in school budget
training, learning techniques and strategies to reach out to the community. The union is also offering
postcards at its Web site, www.nysut.org. A television ad campaign will roll out next month."
